Every couple has a story. Here’s ours.
Kim and I met in our small hometown of Youngstown, Ohio, 36 years ago, and in six months, our marriage story began. It didn’t take us long to realize we were meant for each other. We’ve been blessed with four children, a granddaughter and a daughter-in-love, and we’ve moved three times across state lines.
Fast forward to 2021.
I (Dexter) love being the lead pastor of LifePoint Church in Marietta, Georgia. A multi-ethnic and multi-generational church with a strong focus on outreach and relationship building.
I (Kim) absolutely love being an author, national speaker, life and leadership coach.
We’ve hit some challenging chapters in our story throughout our marriage journey, but the most significant has been communication. We’ve learned how to communicate through the tough and tense. We’ve learned to show up in ways that help us grow individually and as a couple.
Helping married couples is our passion. It was birth out of our own struggles and frustrations.
Yes. We loved Jesus and one another, and still, we dealt with recycling the same arguments, feeling misunderstood, frustrated, and ultimately longing for change.
Like your life, we have a busy schedule, but we make time to co-direct a teen leadership program called Adventure Teens.
Our marriage journey has been featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Woman’s Day magazine, Focus on the family, The Married People organization, and many national radio outlets. In addition, we are the creators and founders of Marriage Talk.
